Aayla Secura(c. 50 BBY - 19 BBY) pronounced Aayl'asecura in her native tongue, was a Jedi Knight during the era of the Clone Wars.

Aayla was a female Twi'lek who was always strong with the Force. As a Padawan, her master was Quinlan Vos, a Kiffar who had recently lost his memories but maintained his Jedi ways. She was one of the Jedi present at the Battle of Geonosis, which marked the beginning of the Clone Wars.

She had a special bond with fellow Jedi Kit Fisto, a bond that, if they both weren't Jedi, could have been love over the years.

After the Clone Wars began, Aayla became a general in charge of a garrison of clone troopers. She was present at the Battle of Hypori, where she was one of the Jedi who survived their first encounter with General Grievous. She was often partnered with clone commander Bly, and served on worlds as diverse as Honoghr, Devaron and Kamino.

Aayla Secura is a master of Ataru (Form IV Lightsaber Combat) according to her co-creater Jan Duursema (in this message board post)

While fighting on Felucia, Aayla was betrayed and killed by her clone troopers after they received word from Palpatine to carry out Order 66. The clones shot Aayla from behind, and then fired numerous shots into her fallen body.

Behind the Scenes

Aayla Secura is played by actress Amy Allen in the movies.

The character was originally created for the Expanded Universe by artist Jan Duursema and writer John Ostrander, but after a piece of striking artwork captured George Lucas's eye, the character was placed in the film.

Her appearances in the films are brief, though, and she sees most of her action in Expanded Universe material.

Whether or not Revenge of the Sith is Aayla's final appearance is still unconfirmed due to rumors about her return in the coming TV series set in-between Episode III and Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope; in this series it is also rumored that it will feature a teenaged Boba Fett starting out as a bounty hunter. If Aayla is to be in this series the role she will play is unknown, or whether or not Amy Allen will reprise the role.
